General

You should be with the scout that needs the most assistance, which usually means the younger of the scouts. However, some special needs may require your assistance more. Use your best judgement.

The leaders in the pack are parents of scouts, just like you.  They are not paid, they VOLUNTEER to make the scouting experience everything that it is. Anyone can be a leader in the pack and you do not have to have any experience in scouting in order to do so.  If you are interested, please ask any of the current leaders how you can play a larger role in the pack. As scouts move through the ranks and move on to Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts), so do their parents. Therefore, we are always looking for new leaders to help out.

Generally we go camping 3 times a year as a pack, although older dens (Webelos & Arrow of Light scouts), may camp as a group (den) more often.

We have our Fall Campout in October, our Spring Campout in April, and our Family Campout in June. For the Fall and Spring Campouts, we camp on Lake Erie Council property. This involves renting a community cabin and giving families the option to tent camp near the cabin, if they prefer.  For the family campout, it is tent camping only, and is done on private property that is Lake Erie Council approved.

Scouts are grouped into Dens based on their current school grade level as follows:

2nd GradeWolves
3rd GradeBears
4th GradeWebelos
5th GradeArrow of Light

No they are not.  Our scouts are not from one school or educational setting, and as such come from a variety of local communities.

While our Chartered Organization, Ridgewood United Methodist (our meeting place & sponsor), is located in Parma, we have scouts from all over the local communities including (but not limited to): Parma, Parma Heights, Seven Hills, Brooklyn, Cuyahoga Heights, Strongsville, and North Royalton.

Pack 216 is not directly affiliated with any school.

Scouts in our pack come from a variety of educational backgrounds.  While most attend various elementary or middle schools in the Parma City School District System, others attend Private schools, Constellation schools, or are Home schooled.

Definitely yes!  We have step parents, aunts, grandmas, grandpas, etc., attend with or in place of the scout’s parents.  This gives the parents a break at times and the other family members a chance to experience scouting with their scout.  It also broadens the Pack community.

Yes, you can. However, you are responsible for them as you would be anywhere else.

The short answer is: NO!

We want the parent/s (or other adult partner/s) there with their scout for:

  • Helping and Guiding them.
  • Disciplining them (if absolutely necessary)
  • Caring for them in case of an emergency.

We also want the parent/s (or adult partner/s) to become part of our scouting community. We want to get to know you, as well as your scout.

When:

We meet every Tuesday at 7:00 PM (Lion Dens initially meet every-other week during the first part of the scouting year).

Where:

Ridgewood United Methodist Church
6330 Ridge Road
Parma, OH 44129
